Logo design

DFW OT was created in a combination of InDesign and Illustrator. It could be integrated with or without the black background with the ‘DFW’ becoming black or staying white depending on where it is played.

In 2019, the Star-Telegram added back the Fort Worth to its nameplate. Using the vector alphabet of the nameplate font , I built the ‘Fort Worth’ from scratch by tightening the wide ‘o’ and adjusting the kerning/spacing. I also built a stacked version for adverstising/marketing materials and business cards.

I based the TTX logo on DFW OT and made a slimmer version since the character count was higher. I had the idea to light up the logo for the episode’s title screen and for the website (executed brilliantly by a McClatchy motion graphics animator).

Prototype logo for reimagining dfw.com. I managed a team and the process using the design thinking methodology. Our research and testing found readers wanted to know things to do in an easy and quick way. Our main platform would be a newsletter and written content would be in list form. Ultimately, budgeting kept us from launching but it was a great learning experience.
